Andre's Background: I have been studying music and drumming for 14 years and now in my 3rd year as a teacher . In my musical journey I have had some great local drum teachers, played with a few local bands at Pubs & Clubs across Melbourne, played in a studio on a few itunes recordings, completed 4 exams at AMEB and even joined a local Marching Band 'Drum line'. In 2024 I recently joined a Brazilian Bloco 3K Marching troop, and joined the Camberwell Show Time Big band . I have studied through the " Rock School" method to grade 7 and the 'Trinity College' method to grade 5. I have a extensive library of songs transcriptions, method books and encyclopaedia's of rudimental marching drills to share.

My Method: In my classes I focus on ... Playing along and Reading music transcriptions in your favourite genre of music, creating and understanding basic drumming concepts one easy step at at time ,. I explore creative ways to make the home practice enjoyable, motivating and rewarding. I encourage my students to spend at least half their practice time actively listening to music of all genres and studying other drummers and musicians across the world. I encourage students and families to embrace technology and targeted social media, like Youtube, to help an enquiring mind find a 'drum hero'. You tube also can be very educational, and lots of playalong tracks. ....I encourage all my students to get out and see as much 'live music' as possible.. particularly in smaller venues and start playing with a band/ of jam with mine.
..
My small home studio, I built, is sound proof and can take 2 students on full size acoustic drum kits. ( Junior kits available) I have an awesome collection of resources & music books and my own teaching notes. All of my students get a personalised teaching notes. Each session starts with a short jam playing along to your favourite song, and quick chat about the drummer & transcription and a break down of the song , with teaching you how to play it.
In 2022 most of my students participated in the mid winter concert ( June 18th) playing along with my live band, and in 2022 4 of my students participated in beginner level AMEB exams.
.........I encourage all my students to get out and see as much 'live music' as possible.. particularly in smaller venues......
I encourage all students to explore and embrace the possibilities of music, using AI , and Technology , and get out there and find a band to play with.
